今回から始まった手探り企画、今週のイチオシ!!
その記念すべき第一回に紹介するイチオシは
スーパーダッシュ文庫でひときわ面白いこの小説、R.O.Dです。
現在までで全11巻が発売されています。
主人公 読子＝リードマン(25)は無骨なメガネをかけた日英のハーフで極度の本好き。
性格はのほほんとして本に関すること以外は全てずぼら。
愛書狂（ビブリオマニア）であり普段は非常勤講師をやっているが、
実は彼女は大英図書館特殊工作部のエージェント"ザ・ペーパー"である。
その名が示すように紙を自在に操る"紙技"を駆使して任務を遂行する。
と、かなり特殊なものを多々持っている女性が主人公です。
内容は大英図書館の下す任務を彼女がこなしていくものですが、
その際に使うペーパー・アクション、これが面白いですね。
本やトイレットペーパーや特殊紙を使った独特の紙描写が想像力を掻き立てます。
たかが"紙"ですが、カッコいい戦闘風景が容易に想像できてなんだか痛快です。
しかし、このペーパーアクションもあくまで演出だと僕は思ってます。
この小説で一番惹かれる要因は、ズバリ人物です。
先に述べた読子だけでなく、上司のジョーカーや(元)女子高生小説家ねねねなど
彼女に負けず劣らずの面々が織り成す話が、この小説一番の魅力ですね。
ちなみに今まで小説を読んだことが数えるほどな人でも大丈夫だと思います。
僕もそうでした(＾＾;
またR.O.Dは多方面なメディアで展開されてます。
漫画版R.O.D、OVA、続編であるR.O.D -THE TV-、
-THE TV-からの派生漫画R.O.D READ OR DREAM などがあります。
全て登場キャラクターは同じですが、内容はパラレルでそれがまた面白いです。
OVA DVD（左）は特に必見、
ペーパー・アクションをアニメーションで
読子の強いキャラクターを三浦理恵子の妙技で見れますよ。
途中でも書きましたが、小説を読む習慣の無い人でもスラスラっと読めます。
価格も手ごろなので、もしも書店で見かけたら買って読んでみて下さい。
